The Classic Sustainably Made

A modern classic. Step into the known for those who love the velvety texture of press coffee.

Made only from stainless steel and borosilicate glass, the Core Coffee Press is the choice for those who are looking for a single serve plastic-free coffee maker.

  • Excellent Velvety Coffee - the optimum micron level reusable stainless steel filter ensures a thick and velvety coffee with a heavier body associated with cafetiere coffee press coffee
  • The Sustainable Choice - made only from high grade 304 stainless steel and thermal shock tested borosilicate glass the design is plastic free and spare parts are available if accidents happen
  • Ergonomic and Easy to Clean - the large glass handle has been designed to be comfortable to hold when full with hot coffee and the Barista & Co statement knob offers greater stability when plunging and allows the filter to be removed easily for cleaning
  • Protected from Knocks - the stainless steel base protects the glass from breakage while being removable so the glass beaker can be placed in the dishwasher leaving the frame to be washed by hand
  • Pours from Any Angle - the medical grade stainless steel flow filter will not taint the flavour of the coffee and the unique 360° design ensures the pour is controlled without having to align the filter to the pouring spout

Barista notes:

Brews a textured, full bodied coffee for a medium strength black or white filter coffee.

TipOnce you’ve added 15g of coarse cafetiere ground coffee, add only 45g / 45ml of boiling water and leave for 30 seconds, this process is called ‘blooming’ and allows the coffee to de-gas producing a better flavoured brew, then continue to add the remaining water.

As a quick guide, add hot water in line with the top of the metal base which is around 45ml.

The key to making better cafetiere coffee press coffee at home is to first think about how you enjoy your coffee. The traditional method will provide a heavy, velvety coffee with coffee fines. This is the coffee most French press drinkers enjoy. If you want a cleaner cup you can follow our specialty method.

Traditional Cafetiere Coffee Press Brewing Method

    1. Remove the lid and filter and add half fill the glass beaker with hot water to heat up the beaker, leave for 45 seconds
    2. Empty the water and add your desired amount of coarse ground coffee or the correct coffee for your cafetiere coffee press. We recommend 15g of coffee to 250g (250ml) of water. As this is a 350ml coffee press it would be 21g of coffee which is approximately 1.5 tablespoons of coffee
    3. Pour in freshly boiled water (ideally filtered water) so it just covers the coffee and then give it a stir. This is called blooming (or degassing) and allows the CO² to escape, leave for 30 seconds
    4. Top up with your remaining water to the maximum fill line or your desired water level and then stir well
    5. Insert the lid and filter but do not plunge, leave to brew for 5-8 minutes depending on your preference
    6. After brewing slowly press down on the knob to plunge the filter through the coffee then serve
    7. We recommend serving all the coffee immediately or pouring into a separate vessel if you would like to keep for later, this will prevent over brewing and the associated bitter taste
    8. Enjoy

Specialty Cafetiere Coffee Press Brewing Method

    4. Top up with your remaining water to the maximum fill line or your desired water level and then stir well
    5. This is where we change things up. Do not put the lid and filter on but leave the coffee to brew for 4 minutes, after 4 minutes use the back of your spoon to break the crust of the coffee by pushing it down, brew for a further 2 minutes
    6. Using your spoon then remove the crust of the coffee that is on the top and place in the bin or compost, place the lid and filter on the top of the beaker and leave for an additional 1 minute
    7. Slowly press the knob down to plunge the filter but only do this 1/3 down and stop, you do not want to go all the way down
    8. Pick up the cafetiere coffee press and pour slowly. This is very important as we are looking to keep the coffee fines at the bottom of the beaker so you are looking for a slow 15-25 second pour. Do not pour beyond the horizontal angle so the fines remain in the beaker.
    9. Enjoy a cleaner coffee

    Top Tip

    • If you enjoy the coffee following the specialty method you may want to try our One Brew which makes it simple
    • For a cleaner press coffee you may also want to purchase an additional metal filter for your cafetiere coffee press which can be added creating two filters - just make sure to plunge slowly if an additional filter is being used.

Base and Lid - Hand wash Only. Harmful salts in a dishwasher will damage the components and stainless steel products in general. We recommend the components are cleaned with a non-abrasive cloth and dried with a tea towel. Failure to follow this may damage the metal coating.

Glass Beaker - the heat resistant borosilicate beaker is dishwasher safe. Ensure the lid and base are removed before cleaning.

Metal Filter - the metal filter is replaceable and can be removed for cleaning. You can do this by unscrewing the filter section. Hold the lid section in your right hand and apply pressure on the knob so it pushes against the lid to prevent it turning. Hold the lower metal filter section in your left hand and twist in a clockwise direction. This will unscrew so the three lower components can be taken apart for cleaning. They can then be separated for a full clean. We recommend cleaning by hand to avoid salt marks however dishwasher cleaning  is possible on these component parts only. Ensure all the parts are dried thoroughly before assembly.
