Dhan Tamang is 6x latte art champion, WLAC finalist and author of Coffee Art. Masters' of milk will already know his story. He's amassed over 70,000 followers on Instagram by sharing his captivating latte art designs and helps us all improve our technique with easy to follow tutorials.

What you might not know is that until very recently, Dhan Tamang was having to edit and adapt milk jugs for himself... in his own kitchen.

When we got wind of this, we thought how could such a master of milk not have a go to milk pitcher? We looked at Dhan's jug, it was pretty cool. So we took it (with his consent). At the Barista & Co HQ we 3D scanned the milk pitcher and went to work designed and creating something that Dhan could win yet another latte art championship with.

Introducing the Barista Pro Pitcher. Made to the exact specifications of Dhan's hand adapted milk jugs, is made from high grade surgical steel. To keep authenticity, every pitcher is made by hand with a steel press.

Working with Dhan Tamang, we designed an ergonomic handle that assists with accuracy. It's aligned perfectly to the unique pouring spout, with a guaranteed 0.1mm accuracy. Finally, we're using high grade steel with is durable and dishwasher safe.

This is the professional milk pitcher that you are going to be seeing at the UK Barista Championships, Latte Art Championships and the WLAC. Don't you want to add it to your collection?

Steaming milk for latte art can be a skilful and enjoyable part of crafting the perfect latte. Here are some tips to help you achieve smooth, velvety milk foam for your latte art:

  1. Use Cold Milk:

    • Start with cold milk, preferably fresh and straight from the refrigerator. Cold milk tends to froth better than warm milk.
  2. Choose the Right Milk:

    • Whole milk is commonly preferred for latte art due to its higher fat content, which contributes to a creamier and more stable microfoam. However, you can experiment with different milk types based on your preference.
  3. Select the Right Pitcher:

    • Use a stainless steel milk pitcher with a pointed spout for better control while pouring. The spout shape influences the precision of your latte art.
  4. Purge Steam Wand:

    • Before frothing, purge the steam wand to remove any water or condensation. This ensures that you start with dry steam for optimal frothing.
  5. Position Steam Wand Properly:

    • Submerge the steam wand just below the surface of the milk, positioning it slightly off-center. This creates a vortex, helping to incorporate air evenly into the milk.
  6. Texture the Milk:

    • Start by introducing steam into the milk to create a frothy texture. As the milk expands, gradually lower the steam wand to continue heating the milk while maintaining a creamy microfoam.
  7. Monitor Temperature:

    • Pay attention to the milk's temperature. Ideally, you want to steam the milk to around 150-160°F (65-71°C). A thermometer can be helpful for precision.
  8. Tap and Swirl:

    • After steaming, tap the milk pitcher on the counter to remove any large bubbles. Swirl the milk to create a smooth, silky texture.
  9. Pour Immediately:

    • Latte art is best achieved by pouring the milk immediately after steaming while the microfoam is still velvety and has not separated.
  10. Practice Regularly:

    • Achieving perfect latte art requires practice. Experiment with different steaming techniques, milk types, and pouring styles to find what works best for you.

Remember, consistency is key, and with practice, you'll become more proficient at steaming milk for beautiful latte art designs.

What's the gauge of this milk frothing jug? The Barista Pro Pitcher offers a 0.7mm gauge. This ultra-thin design keeps the jug lightweight and practical, making it easier to pour coffee art.

What is the spout-to-handle alignment accuracy? Our milk pitchers go through intensive quality control before being listed on our website. The Barista Pro Pitcher offers an almost perfect spout-to-handle alignment, with a +/-1mm allowance. This makes it easier to pour precision latte art.

Is the Barista Pro Pitcher dishwasher safe? This milk frothing jug is made from medical grade stainless steel which is rust resistant and can be washed in the dishwasher. However, as with any product, to increase your milk jugs life span we'd recommend handwashing.

Does this milk frothing jug have internal measure marks? Yes. The Barista Pro Pitcher has internal measuring marks at 100ml intervals so you can froth the correct amount of milk for the coffee beverage you're making.

Does Dhan Tamang use this milk frothing jug in competitions? Yes. This is the jug Dhan Tamang uses at all his latte art competitions. See him in action over on his Instagram.
