How to - Core Coffee Press

Ingredients and Tools:

  • Filter ground coffee
  • Hot water
  • Core Coffee Press
  • Stirring utensil
  • Timer

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Measure Coffee:

    • Use a filter ground coffee for French Press brewing. A general guideline is to use a coffee-to-water ratio of 1:15 or 1:16. For example, for every 1 gram of coffee, use 15-16 grams of water.
  2. Preheat your Core Coffee Press:

    • Pour a small amount of hot water into the French Press to preheat it. Swirl the water around, and then discard it.
  3. Add Coffee:

    • Add the measured coffee grounds to the bottom of the Coffee Press.
  4. Add Hot Water:

    • Heat water to just below boiling (around 93°C). Pour the hot water over the coffee grounds, ensuring even saturation. Use a pouring kettle or milk pitcher for better control.
  5. Stir and Bloom:

    • Stir the coffee-water mixture gently with a wooden or plastic utensil to ensure all grounds are saturated. Allow it to bloom for about 30 seconds.
  6. Attach Lid and Plunge:

    • Attach the lid to the cafetiere without pressing down the plunger. Let the coffee steep for the desired time (typically 4-6 minutes).
  7. Plunge:

    • After steeping, slowly press down the plunger, separating the coffee grounds from the liquid.
  8. Pour and Serve:

    • Pour the brewed coffee into your favourite mug.

Tips:

  • Experiment with the coffee-to-water ratio to find your preferred strength.
  • Use fresh, high-quality coffee beans for the best flavour.
  • Start with clean equipment to avoid any lingering flavours from previous brews.

By following these steps, you can enjoy a rich and flavourful cup of coffee using any coffee press. Adjustments can be made based on personal taste preferences. Still having troubles? Check out our guide to brewing with a cafetiere.
