How to - Core Coffee Press
Ingredients and Tools:
- Filter ground coffee
- Hot water
- Core Coffee Press
- Stirring utensil
- Timer
Step-by-Step Instructions:
-
Measure Coffee:
- Use a filter ground coffee for French Press brewing. A general guideline is to use a coffee-to-water ratio of 1:15 or 1:16. For example, for every 1 gram of coffee, use 15-16 grams of water.
-
Preheat your Core Coffee Press:
- Pour a small amount of hot water into the French Press to preheat it. Swirl the water around, and then discard it.
-
Add Coffee:
- Add the measured coffee grounds to the bottom of the Coffee Press.
-
Add Hot Water:
- Heat water to just below boiling (around 93°C). Pour the hot water over the coffee grounds, ensuring even saturation. Use a pouring kettle or milk pitcher for better control.
-
Stir and Bloom:
- Stir the coffee-water mixture gently with a wooden or plastic utensil to ensure all grounds are saturated. Allow it to bloom for about 30 seconds.
-
Attach Lid and Plunge:
- Attach the lid to the cafetiere without pressing down the plunger. Let the coffee steep for the desired time (typically 4-6 minutes).
-
Plunge:
- After steeping, slowly press down the plunger, separating the coffee grounds from the liquid.
-
Pour and Serve:
- Pour the brewed coffee into your favourite mug.
Tips:
- Experiment with the coffee-to-water ratio to find your preferred strength.
- Use fresh, high-quality coffee beans for the best flavour.
- Start with clean equipment to avoid any lingering flavours from previous brews.
