Orders placed before 12pm Monday-Friday will be dispatched that day by Royal Mail. Orders placed after 12pm, on the weekend or during a bank holiday will be dispatched the next working day. As soon as your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email with the tracking number.

The fine stainless steel filter is a replacement for all the 1 Mug / 3 Cup / 350ml cafetiere coffee presses in the Barista & Co range. An additional filter can also be purchased if you would like to add to your current press for a cleaner coffee with less coffee grounds.

This cafetiere replacement filter is easy to install and allows you to keep using your Core Coffee Press to brew fresh, specialty coffee at home. Please note the size when purchasing your spare filters.

To change the metal filter on a cafetiere (French press), follow these steps:

  1. Disassemble the Plunger:

    • Separate the plunger assembly by unscrewing the metal rod from the mesh filter. This usually involves twisting the metal rod counterclockwise.
  2. Remove the Old Filter:

    • Take out the old metal filter from the plunger assembly. If it's stuck, gently tap the plunger on a soft surface to release the filter.
  3. Clean the Plunger:

    • Before inserting the new filter, make sure to clean the plunger thoroughly, removing any coffee grounds or residue.
  4. Insert the New Metal Filter:

    • Place the new metal filter into the plunger assembly. Ensure it fits snugly and sits flat to create a proper seal.
  5. Reassemble the Plunger:

    • Reattach the metal rod to the plunger assembly by screwing it back in a clockwise direction. Tighten it securely but avoid overtightening.
  6. Test the Cafetiere:

    • After replacing the filter, test the cafetiere by pushing the plunger down and up a few times without coffee grounds to ensure smooth operation.

Changing the metal filter is a simple process that helps maintain the performance and quality of your cafetiere for optimal coffee brewing.

How often should I replace the filter in my Core Coffee Press?

The metal filter in a French press should be replaced when it shows signs of damage or wear, such as warping or tearing, and the frequency depends on factors like usage, cleaning habits, and overall maintenance. With regular inspection and proper care, a metal filter can typically last several months to a couple of years.

My cafetiere lets too many grounds into my cup, is there anything I can do?

The metal mesh filter is designed to stop coarse ground coffee getting into your cup, but as it is not as fine as a paper filter it does allow a small amount of residual grounds through. The easiest way to solve this is to get a second mesh filter and add that onto your cafetiere plunger.

Orders placed before 1pm will dispatch on the same day. Orders placed after 1pm will dispatch on the following working day. Our carriers will attempt to deliver twice and also leave a collection card. If they are unable to deliver and you do not collect your parcel, the goods will be returned to us and you will be liable to pay any additional delivery charge.

Please note: once your order has been placed it is unlikely we will be able to change it as our warehouse processes orders immediately. 

International Orders

  • We deliver internationally through Royal Mail International Standard
    • Europe delivery 3-5 working days
    • Worldwide delivery 6-7 working days
  • For international shipments outside of our delivery countries please contact Forward2Me or another parcel forwarder
  • Depending on your delivery location you may be required to pay import duties and charges
  • It is your responsibility to return any unwanted items before a refund will be processed

Exchanges & Refunds

 We want you to be happy with your purchase. We have a 30 days returns policy and we will offer a refund or exchange as long as we receive the goods back within 30 days of the delivery date. 

Please ensure you say whether you require a refund or exchange in the notes. 


Unwanted Items

  • The product and retail packaging must be unused and in perfect saleable condition
  • Tapes or labels must not be applied to the product packaging
  • Please note we are permitted by law to reduce your refund to reflect any reduction in the value of the goods caused by your handling
  • If you would like to exchange or send an undamaged and unused item back, you are responsible for the delivery back to Barista & Co Coffee and any associated delivery fee for the replacement. You should ensure you have a proof of postage and insurance.
  • We cannot offer exchanges and refunds for coffee as it is a foodstuff
  • We cannot offer exchanges and refunds for gift cards or customised products
  • If you have ordered multiple items and request a refund for part of the order you will be charged £3.95 if this takes the original order value below our free delivery value of £40, this is not charged if you request an exchange
  • Exchanges and refunds can only be process after you request a refund through your account
  • Items sent back without a request will not be processed and you will be liable to pay shipping if you would like the goods back
    • Your refund or exchange will be provided once the goods have been received and inspected
    • For exchanges we will not charge delivery for the second order as long as the value is over £20
    • From your request we aim to process refunds within 5 working days however your bank may also take time to process the refund

    Damaged or Wrong Items Delivered

    • If you receive a damaged or broken item we will happily replace this for you
    • A replacement request must be submitted through your account
    • Once submitted we may request photographic evidence of the damage
    • We aim to dispatch replacements within 3 working days of submission
    • If we have sent the wrong item please submit a request through your account
    • Once processed we will provide a free returns label and kindly ask you send the item back to us

    Cancelled Orders

    • We process all orders immediately and we are unable to prevent shipments so please take care ordering the correct item
    • Once you receive your delivery, you are able to return as part of our unwanted item policy
    • It is your responsibility to pay the return shipping cost
