Introducing Espresso Roast, the newest addition to the Barista & Co collection, crafted with passion by award-winning roasters in small batches in Dorset. This blend features a meticulously selected combination of premium beans from Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Brazil, ensuring a unique and unforgettable sensory experience.
We've always said that best coffee roast for espresso should be dark. That's because the darker you roast coffee beans, the more of those burnt toast tasting notes come through. These are the notes that pair perfectly with the sweetness of steamed milk, a flavour combo not to be missed!
If you like espresso based drinks, such as the nations favourite flat white, give Rocket Man espresso roast a go. Not only is it dark roasted, but we've added a small amount of Robusta. The Robusta bean is known for it's punchy flavour and high caffeine content, making this an intense coffee for espresso lovers.
Our Dark Espresso Roast offers an intense, bold flavour profile with hints of dark chocolate and nuts that espresso enthusiasts will appreciate. This blend is perfect for coffee aficionados who enjoy strong and complex flavours and want to enjoy it as a short espresso shot or with milk, resulting in a deliciously smooth and velvety finish.
Our roast masters have carefully selected the beans and applied their expertise to roast them to perfection, ensuring a consistent, rich and full-bodied taste in every cup. We have crafted this blend with care and precision, creating a well-balanced and deeply satisfying coffee.
At Barista & Co, we believe that coffee should be an experience, not just a drink. That's why we're proud to present our Espresso Roast, the perfect choice for coffee lovers who appreciate high-quality coffee without sacrificing convenience. So, if you want to take your at-home espresso game to the next level, give our Espresso Roast a try and experience the difference.
Pulling the Perfect Espresso Shot
To get the best possible flavour from our Espresso Roast, we recommend using a home espresso machine with a portafilter. When it comes to the best machines, we'd recommend a single boiler espresso machine such. It's easy to set up and learn how to use, you'll be pouring your first flat white within 30 minutes of turning it on. Once you've mastered the basics, it's a fully customisable espresso machine so you can control the temperature and pressure to really start perfecting your shots.
To prepare a shot of espresso, start by grinding your Espresso Roast coffee beans to a fine consistency. The ideal grind size will be slightly finer than table salt.
Next, dose the portafilter with 18-21 grams of ground coffee, tamp it down with a tamper, and lock it into your espresso machine. Make sure your machine is set to the correct temperature and pressure for an espresso shot. Then, turn on the machine and wait for the shot to be extracted.
For milk-based drinks, such as lattes or cappuccinos, froth the milk separately and pour it over the shot of espresso. The rich, full-bodied flavour of Espresso Roast pairs perfectly with milk, creating a smooth and velvety finish.
Overall, Espresso Roast is the perfect coffee for home baristas who want to elevate their espresso game. Its dark roast profile and complex flavour notes make it a standout choice for anyone who appreciates a rich, full-bodied cup of coffee.
Our preground filter coffee can be used straight away and is compatible with the One Brew, cafetiere's, filter brewers such as the Brew It Stick and Aeropress. Follow the instructions on your coffee maker to make a delicious brew at home, work or on the go.
We always recommend whole bean coffee for the best tasting cup. If you choose whole bean, you will need to grind your coffee before you can brew it. Some coffee makers have integrated grinders, but in most cases you will need to invest in order to make great tasting coffee.
The Core All Grind Plus offers 50 grind settings from fine to coarse, allowing you to grind your coffee beans for every type of brewer. Below are our grind size recommendations and settings for the Core All Grind Plus so you can experiment with different styles of coffee.

Which is better: single origin or blend coffee? It ultimately comes down to personal preference. Single origin coffees offer a unique taste that highlights the specific characteristics of the region or farm they come from, while blends aim for consistency and balance. Some coffee lovers prefer the variety and complexity of single origin coffees, while others prefer the reliable taste of blends.

Can I taste the individual flavours of each origin in Espresso Roast? While the flavours of each origin are blended together to create a unique taste, you may still be able to detect some individual notes in Espresso Roast. For example, the nuttiness of Brazilian coffee, the sweetness of Ethiopian coffee, and the acidity of Rwandan coffee may all be present in the blend.
If I prefer single origin coffee, should I still try Espresso Roast? Absolutely! Does whole bean coffee stay fresh for longer? Yes, whole bean coffee typically stays fresh for longer than pre-ground coffee. This is because when coffee beans are left whole, they retain their natural oils and flavours for a longer period of time. Once the beans are ground, the surface area is increased, which exposes more of the oils and flavours to air, light, and moisture. This can lead to oxidation and degradation of the coffee, resulting in a loss of flavour and aroma.
